In today’s society with flu pandemics and such grabbing so much of the spotlight, it is easy for us to overlook the fact that our dogs can also contract a version of flu. Yes it is true, there is a flu virus becoming prominent in the canine world that is believed to have originated as an equine strain. This equine strain has started to appear in dogs in the United States opening up a huge can of worms that we as dog owners now have to deal with. As if there was not already enough dangerous factors that we must be aware of, now there is another potentially serious relatively unknown one to consider.

Many people, who unfortunately misunderstand the concept of good crate training, believe that crating a dog for any length of time is cruel and they refuse to even consider it. In fact, a crate really is a wonderful tool when used correctly. Crate training can be fun for the puppy if you make it a POSITIVE experience. I firmly believe it to be the fastest and easiest way to potty train a puppy or even an adult, previously untrained dog.

With careful planning, bringing home a puppy to share with your family can be a wonderful experience. However, a new puppy is a lot of hard work.

Large dogs and extra large dogs require more thought and planning when owners purchase a permanent dog bed. Even though large dogs can be just as lovable as their smaller canine counterparts, they require a more complex sleeping situation than small dogs. It’s obvious that a large dog requires a large dog bed, and that an extra large dog requires an extra large dog bed. This goes without saying. But how big? And what kind of bed is best?

The ten worst excuses not to spay or neuter a pet are:

1. Just one litter and then we’ll have Fluffy spayed.
   (Studies show that virtually the entire pet overpopulation stems from the “just one litter mentality.)

2. My dog doesn’t run loose, so he doesn’t need to be fixed.
   (Murphy’s Law says otherwise.)

Most of us are being frightened by dog bites. Considering the effects of these instances especially when the dog carries those sicknesses which are not curable and can even cause death, it’s really a big scare to many people. Every year, dog bite cases continue to get higher and higher. Children are the most prone to such cases; they are the usual victims of dog bites. Expect for lots of dog bite lawsuits to come out in the future. After all, the compensation for such injury is fairly high too.
