Are SEO consultants worth the money?

Because of lacking funds, I started doing some web marketing for my website by myself. I decided I’d get a good start at least, and pay for an SEO specialist later.

I soon realized I wouldn’t need that specialist though. After studying SEO for only a month, I had cut my own search engine ranking down by more than 10,000,000. I didn’t even study very hard.

My thoughts on this would be different if SEO specialist costs were cheaper, and actually worth the time saved. To get a basic rate for this article, I just did a Google search for ‘SEO Specialist Rate’. The first one on the list was entitled ‘Low Cost SEO Services.’ What was this extraordinary low rate? $600 per month.

Optimization isn’t hard at all. If you still don’t want to do it yourself, I’ll do it for you for $20.

The people writing to the yes side of this article most likely hired an SEO consultant, and yes, probably got great results. I can bet you anything, though, that they didn’t try it themselves before they hired that consultant. I bet most of them don’t realize that they could have gotten close to the same results, completely free.

Don’t think, “Once I hire an SEO consultant, I can make up the price with the money I’ll be making from my website.” You can eventually make money, but just like any other website, it will take time and patience. It won’t just take an SEO consultant. Just because you rank highly in search engines, that doesn’t mean you’ll make sales.

If you practice basic SEO principles, and promote your website while it’s growing, you’ll naturally gain traffic as you deserve it. In other words, once you’re up to making a few hundred visitors a day, you’ll make a few sales. If you make a few 100,000 a day, you’ll make plenty of sales. There’s no need to make it to the top of search engines when you’re website has no reputation built yet.

So do it yourself. You’re website will be more credible, and you’ll save thousands of dollars.
