1000 things I’ve learned about blogging from OJB
Saturday, January 24th, 20091000 things I’ve learned about blogging from the Online Journalism Blog .: An interesting and long-ish list of lessons that the author (I could not figure out who wrote this article from their list of authors. I am assuming it was Paul Bradshaw. Multi-author blogs really, really need to think about adding the name of the author to their templates/themes. ) has learned from blogging.
Create Your Own Frontpage Slideshow
Saturday, January 24th, 2009The folks over at PerfectSurf.de have published a tutorial which goes into detail on how you can create your own personal slideshow to appear on the frontpage of your WordPress powered site. This slideshow feature has been seen in numerous premium themes as of late and now you can create one for yourself via this tutorial. A slideshow is great for showcasing images within a gallery or showing off images related to top news items on your blog. The tutorial is not meant for beginners, but those of you who understand terms such as The Loop, excerpt and permalink, you should be fine.

Saturday, January 24th, 2009I have been asked this question quite a few times and I never have a perfect answer. In the post linked above, he talks about the newly introduced feature of Google Webmaster Portal that allows users to find the pages that link to 404 pages on your site . In his words (emphasis his) “Some of the easiest links you’ll ever get are when people tried to link to you and just messed up .”
Top 10 WordPress Plugin Developers
Saturday, January 24th, 2009As the year is coming to an end, perhaps it’s time for a different kind of “Top X” post. Instead of a list of new WP plugins to try out, here are the top plugin authors – the brilliant people who create outstanding tools and share them with the WordPress community.
Do You Post By Email?
Saturday, January 24th, 2009There are a number of options available to publish articles to your blog outside of your WordPress Write panel such as through XML-RPC via a third party blogging client or through an application such as the one available for the iPhone. However, did you know that you can also publish posts through email? It’s true! The feature has been around for quite some time. For how long I’m not sure because I was unable to track down when it became a core feature but it looks like it has been around since 1.5 or below.
